I can be a VAMPIRE, I can be a KILLER, but I can't be a LESBIAN at Tesco

So that god-awful film Lesbian Vampire Killers came out on DVD and Tesco and other retailers have CENSORED the word LESBIAN! I didn't realise it was such a taboo word or subject matter anymore.

The supermarkets have even gone as far as to censor the little bit of cleavage on the front cover as well. Well when I pick up my copy of Lesbian Vampire Killers and I go to the front desk and pick up a drink and a bag of crisps and I go to pick up a newspaper of my choice and my eyes glance over accidently to see the Daily Star's naked girl of the day on the front cover I will AVERT MY EYES, possibly move them over to my Lesbian Vampire DVD and thank the heavens above that someone has the balls to censor that little bit of tittage!

So i'm going home now to thank Jesus censorship is alive and well.....

The Mini Adventures of a Lipstick Lez

So there I was; a fresh faced teenager standing at the door of my first gay bar with my aviators in one hand and my purse in the other. I was ready to begin my journey....

As I built up the courage to waltz inside and give a slow, sultry, wanting look to all those glamourous little black dress wearing, high heel walking, martini drinking, tall, dark and mysterious women in the hope they too would stare back at me and lust after my young, innocent good looks and long blonde hair, I was awoken from my dreaming by an old bouncer's heavy rough voice....

"eh love you're blocking the exit"

"Oh yeah sorry... I'm...I'm going in now"

The Drag Queen bouncer rolled her eyes and proceeded to shout across the road at the scally lads giving her abuse.

I took a deep breath and walked slowly down the stairs and into the bar. I looked around excited, with a girly teenage grin on my face - I'm HERE and I'm QUEER I thought! I stood at the door and waited for the movement of eyes towards me. I waited.....and waited....

What I saw was NOT the "Hit" bar I had been promised, in what I thought was my trusty Guide to the Lesbian world;- The L Word. It was not the whirlwind Studio 54 atmosphere with buzzing electro-pop and mad crazy smoke and disco balls.
It was an empty pink room with a half arsed 70s decor and Ministry of Sound Dance Classic Anthems album on repeat whilst the Drag Queen DJ had a fag outside.

It wasn't perfect but it was MY gay world and I made sure I had enough drink inside me to enjoy it ;)

And so my mini adventures into the gay world began...

stay tuned for more!
